Bahrain Grand Prix
Before it's announcement, Formula One wanted to try to host a Grand Prix in the Middle East. F1 has managed to host races in Europe, Asia, North America and South America. Hosting a Formula One Grand Prix in the Middle East could help boost up the sport's popularity and influence across the Arab countries. F1 had a difficult choice of choosing the best country to host a Formula One Grand Prix due to the difficulties of hosting a race in hot conditions. F1 decided to host in the Island of Bahrain as the country already has a circuit fully constructed, that's suitable enough to host a Formula One Grand Prix in the Middle East. The man who designed the Bahrain International Circuit, is renowned German engineer Hermann Tilke.

2004 Bahrain GP
After the Bahrain International Circuit was constructed, it was ready for use in April of 2004. The circuit only took 16 months to complete, and workers were exhausted due to the intense heat and extreme conditions they had to face during it's construction. But the first time that the Bahrain International Circuit would make it's debut in F1, would be during the 2004 FIA Formula One World Championship. The first Bahrain Grand Prix was won by Ferrari's Michael Schumacher. The German Driver dominated the whole race after starting from pole, which marked his third Grand Prix victory in the 2004 season. After F1's debut in Bahrain, the circuit has been used for other Motorsports such as MotoGP, Endurance Racing, etc.
The Bahrain Grand Prix was a success in bringing the world of Formula One to the Middle East. But unfortunately, the Bahrain Grand Prix wasn't always loved by the fans. Throughout the years, Bahrain sadly wasn't able to deliver a lot of racing action that excites the fans. Even the drivers don't seem to love the track as much as the other ones that they've raced on. Fans and drivers, weren't a fan of turns 9 - 10, as it's one of the difficult corners to pass through, as turn 10 is a sharp corner that could potentially make the drivers go wide and commit mistakes.

Despite the mixed reviews of the circuit, the track was able to provide great racing actions during the 2014 Bahrain Grand Prix. The timing for the Bahrain GP has significantly changed, from starting the race during the daytime, from being a night race. This is so for a much better scenery as the track looks better at night, and slightly improved the weather conditions. The 2014 FIA Formula One World Championship, would see the rivalry of Mercedes AMG team mates Lewis Hamilton & Nico Rosberg. Both team mates were battling out till the end of the Grand Prix. The two team mates kept swapping positions until the final lap, Hamilton successfully won the Bahrain GP for Mercedes. This battle in particular, is one of the most memorable moments for the Bahrain GP as this became Rosberg's first Grand Prix win.
Another great moment that happened during the 2017 Bahrain GP, which showed the thrilling battle of Ferrari and Mercedes. Sebastian Vettel was victorious in a this really exciting victory for his team Ferrari against Mercedes. Besides the fast and strategic competition from Lewis Hamilton, Vettel managed to beat the Mercedes driver and was the winner of his first race this season. The race was the breathtaking and showed Ferrari's return to the fight for constructors and drivers championship.

When the F1 2020 season came along, the season was halted due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It wouldn't take that long until F1 finally returned and kick started the season in Austria for the Austrian Grand Prix in July. Interestingly, F1 was gonna host two Grand Prix races at the Bahrain International Circuit. The first of these two events is the usual Bahrain GP, and the next event which still takes place in the circuit, but with a different track layout which is dubbed as the Sakhir Grand Prix.

The Halo which was heavily criticized during it's announcement, was one of the reasons why Grosjean was able to escape his crash.

During the 2020 Bahrain GP, Formula One would witness a shocking incident involving the Haas driver of Romain Grosjean. Grosjean experienced a shocking and devastating crash during the first lap of the Grand Prix. His Haas VF-20 collided with Daniil Kvyat's left front wheel in an attempt to overtake the Russian driver, but ultimately lost control, leading him straight to the wall with a speed of 120mph. His car suddenly burst into flames, nearly killing Grosjean. The race was red-flagged dur to this incident, and the fans and the drivers on the track couldn't stop thinking about Grosjean's horrific accident. Everyone waited for an update on Grosjean's accident. Until they all came to a sigh of relief. Grosjean was able to make it out of the car, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for precautionary checks. The race would continue after the terrible accident oof Grosjean. Later that night, Lewis Hamilton would take victory of the 2020 Bahrain GP. But after Grosjean's crash, F1 would yet again update the drivers safety precautions. They ensured that the cockpit and the drivers race suite would be fire proof, that way no driver would ever be wounded from another fiery accident ever again.
Another pivotal moment for the Bahrain International Circuit, was during the second time F1 raced at Bahrain during the 2020 season. The Sakhir Grand Prix, was an alternative and brand new way of racing at the Bahrain International Circuit. The new layout brings the F1 cars through the extra parts of the tracks that weren't used during the usual Bahrain GP. Before the race started, Mercedes driver, Lewis Hamilton was unfortunately tested positive for COVID, and was forced to not attend the Sakhir GP. In replacement for Hamilton, Williams driver George Russell stepped in to fill in Lewis's shoes for the Grand Prix. When the Sakhir GP started, the opening lap was another chaotic opening for the Grand Prix as the three drivers, Charles Leclerc, Max Verstappen and Sergio Pérez would eventually crash during the Grand Prix. Leclerc and Verstappen unfortunately retired during the race. However, Pérez continued on but, the crash unfortunately placed him 18th on the grid after starting from P5. Despite this though, Perez was able to gain a few places throughout the Grand Prix and was making steady progress. In the closing laps, Pérez took advantage of a late-race safety car and a mistake from both Mercedes drivers, Valtteri Bottas and George Russell, who suffered pit stops and tire issues. Pérez held off Ocon and Russell in the final stages of the Grand Prix, which would grant him his first ever Formula One Grand Prix Victory. Pérez had an astonishing Grand Prix which utilized a combination of pit strategy, tyre management and a bit of luck that allowed him to take the win. This particular event would be recognized as one of the few memorable moments of the Bahrain GP.
During the 2021 FIA Formula One World Championship, The 2021 Bahrain GP set the tone for what would become one of the most competitive and dramatic seasons in Formula 1 history, with Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen going head-to-head for the title in what would evolve into an intense, season-long rivalry. During the last few laps of the race, Verstappen made a controversial overtake on Hamilton, which involved Verstappen to go pass track limits on Turn 4. This would eventually be noticed by the FIA Stewarts which ordered Verstappen to return the position back to Hamilton. Hamilton would eventually take the win of the Bahrain GP due to this incident, which would mark the beginning of the fierce rivalry of Hamilton and Verstappen.

During the 2022 season, the race would also see another great battle between Charles Leclerc and Max Verstappen. Leclerc and Verstappen performed a number of overtakes in an attempt to take the lead of the Grand Prix. During a safety car restart, Verstappen was in bad luck, as his RB-18, ran out of power during the restart, forcing him to retire which had a massive impact on the championship standings. During the final lap of the race, the same thing would happen to his team mate Sergio Pérez. Only this time, his engine cut out on Turn 1. Charles Leclerc came out victorious and won the 2022 Bahrain GP. Ferrari managed to gain a 1-2 during that weekend as Carlos Sainz was able to pick up 2nd place. Leclerc's victory would place him in the lead of the Drivers Championship. And in the 2023 season, 2 time champion Fernando Alonso would return to the podium after his recent podium during the Qatar GP in 2021. The Bahrain Grand Prix has it's ups and downs in terms of the track design and the limited number of racing action, but it will always remain a special track to Formula One as it's first ever track to race on in the Middle East.
